Two Opportunities to Serve

PMQG members have two new opportunities for service!

Riverside’s NICU has a need for brightly colored quilts to send home with babies who “graduate” from the unit, as well as a need for soft-colored quilts to present to grieving parents. Quilts can be anywhere from 18” x 24” to 35” x 42” or so.
We also have the option to sew “pea pods” for stillborn babies. Tiny babes are placed in these coverings before being presented to their parents.  You can find the pattern on our Facebook Group Page, under the “Files” tab or click HERE.

Finished items can be brought to Guild meetings.

March Meeting Highlights

Our Potholder Swap was a huge success. Look at all these pretty potholders!
Who will actually USE theirs?

Pam T. won the  Block of the Month drawing and went home with some beautiful Rose Garden blocks!

The Quilt-Along is in full swing! Strips were swapped and some of our brand new quilters were given strips so they could get in on the fun.  For those participating, create anything you want from your blocks (quilt, table runner, wall hanging, tote bag…)
Your finished projects are due at the November meeting. Directions for making your blocks are HERE.
TIP: Make sure the first seam you rip out is a dark fabric and work down from there.

New Business:
The Modern Quilt Guild is restructuring, and individual Guilds have options for how they relate to MQG. Guild members are encouraged to watch the
MQG’s presentation for all the details. Please bring your questions and comments to our next meeting.  The Guild will decide as a group how to proceed in light of these changes.

February Meeting Highlights

February was all about color!

Lise presented this month’s program, sharing the ins and outs of color use and the secrets to making our quilts “pop”.

Everyone sported colorful new Name Tags they created for this month’s swap. Names were drawn, and Terri, Karen, Gwen, Barb and Yvette each won a new fat quarter to add to their stash.

Amanda was the lucky winner of the day’s big Door Prize… “In the Studio with Angela Walters”  – a great new book to add to her collection!

February’s Block of the Month was a huge success – the table full of colorful blocks looked like confetti. Amanda, Colleen and Tricia each won some of these fun blocks to play with. We can’t wait to see what they create from their winnings!

Show & Tell was overflowing with color!

Kathy shared this stunning beauty that she designed herself.

This wall hanging by Lois is super festive.

Pam didn’t leave any color out of this beautiful quilt.

Barb made these adorable Valentines to give to her loved ones.
Thank you for sharing, ladies!
