Join Us for Basics Boot Camp!

Join us this Saturday for our October meeting! We’ll revisit some timeless techniques and a new trick or two at our Basics Boot Camp. Members will rotate through stations brushing up on basic skills and sharing what they know. You don’t want to miss it!

What to bring:
Weather Challenge quilts are due this month! Each entry must include:
   – $1 Entry Fee

   –  A label on the quilt back
   –  Artist’s Statement with your name, town, weather type chosen and a little bit about why        you chose it.
Challenge quilts will be displayed at December’s Quilt Showcase.
~October’s Block of the Month is the Wacky Nine Patch
~Show & Tell. We love seeing what you’ve been up to.

Reminders:
~ Quilt-Along participants (who swapped strips at our March meeting): Create anything you want from your blocks.  Your finished projects are due at the NOVEMBER meeting. Directions for making your blocks are HERETIP: Be sure the first seam you rip out is a dark fabric and work down from there.

This month’s special guest was the lovely
 Alison Glass, fabric designer for Andover Fabrics. Alison shared her process for transferring her art from paper to fabric. She also brought some of her own beautiful quilts and fun fabrics.

~ The PMQG will host its first guild Quilt Show in December in conjunction with Nancy’s open house. All members are encouraged to enter at least one modern quilt. Finish those modern UFOs and support your Guild!

This month we beat the heat with some strip poker…. QUILTING strips, that is! Members laughed and cheered as they anted up strips of fabric and rolled the dice for a chance to WIN.

Ante up!!

June Meeting Highlights

The PMQG was swirling with activity this month! 
This month’s program was “Going in Circles”. Lise shared her techniques for sewing free-pieced and tight curves and insetting circles. Malinda shared a handy way to make perfect appliqued circles for any project. 


The sky’s the limit for our first big Guild Challenge, because our theme is “WEATHER”! Come up with your best interpretation of any weather phenomenon and put it to fabric. Finished quilts will be displayed at our October meeting. You can find all the details on our new Challenges tab above.


Business: The Guild has decided to abstain from officially joining the new Modern Quilt Guild structure for the time being. The decision can be reconsidered in the future as our group grows.

Moore Love – Quilts for Oklahoma

The Oklahoma City MQG is collecting quilts for victims of last week’s tornado. As I post this the Oklahoma City area, including Moore, is being battered by more severe storms and tornado activity.

For those who have quilts you’d like to donate, or the desire to make a quilt specifically for those affected, the OCMQG requests you send your quilts by June 30th. You will find all the details on the Oklahoma City MQG site.
