June’s Meeting & Potluck Picnic

We’re welcoming summer with a pot-luck picnic in the park! 
Join us for food, games and lots of fun!

10:00 AM – 1:00 PM 

We are meeting at Harwood Mills park in Yorktown, on Oriana Road next to the reservoir.  Clothesline will be strung to show off everyone’s Show & Tell and BOMs.

May Meeting Highlights

“Pleased to meet ya!” Members had time to chat and get better acquainted during May’s “Speed Dating” program. Profile cards were passed around as everyone rotated through the room and shared fun facts about themselves. My, what an interesting bunch of characters quilters we have!


Business:
~ Sell all your raffle quilt tickets ! Money needs to be turned in at June’s meeting. The drawing will be held July 1st.
~ We are scouting for a new meeting place. Stay tuned for developments. 

Show & Tell:

Amanda incorporated “ugly” fabrics into this scrappy gem. Nothing ugly here!


Valerie’s quilt looks like summer. 

Tricia finished this beautiful patriotic quilt.

Joy found this pristine 1940 quilt in a consignment shop.

~ Anything goes with June’s Block of the Month – everyone is encouraged to  BYOB – Bring Your Own Block. Reminder: Beth is “stealing” blocks monthly to be made into extra quilts for charity. Extra blocks can also be made for this purpose and given directly to Beth. 
~ Sign-up at June’s meeting for July’s swap! You won’t want to miss out – if you won’t be at June’s meeting to sign up you must email Tricia before the meeting to add your name to the list. 
~Dues are $25 and due at June’s meeting. If you won’t be there, please email us to make arrangements. 
~ Secret Pals will be assigned. If you’d like a Secret Pal, sign up with Tricia at the beginning of the meeting.

During April’s Charity Sew Day members successfully sewed over 60 of these sweet blankets for the NICU. Many hands make light work, and our guild proved it! Thank you to all who cut, sewed, pressed and donated supplies.

March’s meeting was the PMQG’s Mid-Atlantic Show & Tell. Members shared their class experiences and showed off some of their fun purchases. We can’t wait for next year!

Barb took Laura Wasilowski’s  fun Zentangle class. 
MAQF was Cathy’s VERY FIRST quilt show!


Joy took Esterita Austin’s Powerful Portrait class. 
Yvette made this beauty in Jenny Rayment’s 
Tucked & Twisted class. 


Lise scored some wonderful vintage fabrics!
Katie stocked up on stencils!

Members also swapped some of the cutest Mug Rugs ever….

~ The new slate of officers was approved and Malinda passed the baton. Your new Officers     are:
          President~ Joy M. 
          Vice President~ Beth M.

          Treasurer~ Pam K. 

~ Malinda was surprised with a parting gift of bright Economy Blocks made by guild Members. 

~ Our Raffle Quilt was a huge success at the Mid-Atlantic Quilt Fest! Many thanks to all of you for volunteering to get our first fundraiser off to a fabulous start!

~ April’s meeting will be a sew day to make wee blankets for still-born babies. Please bring:

        – Pre-cut 12.5″ WHITE flannel squares
        – Pre-cut 12.5″ WHITE fabric squares

        – 1/4″ up to 1/2″ wide WHITE ribbon
        – Sewing machine, scissors, white thread, cutting supplies

~ Raffle tickets and a photo of the Raffle Quilt will be distributed to each member at April’s meeting. Members are encouraged to sell all their tickets. Start thinking of who you know! 
~ April’s Block of the Month is the Economy Block.
~ Malinda will present a new Guild Challenge

~ Tricia will announce May’s Swap.

~ NICU quilts are being accepted at each month’s meeting. 
~ Meeting Minutes can be found on our Facebook Page. Members not on Facebook can request the minutes via email.
