February Meeting Highlights

Fusing in February was this month’s program, with Lise leading the way. Members brought colorful fabrics to fuse and cut into bright blocks for March’s block of the month.

Business:

~ March’s meeting will usher in some new Officers and Chairs as we gear up for more excitement in 2014. Thank you to those who stepped up to fill the available positions. A BIG shout out to everyone who has worked behind the scenes the past year to get our guild off to a great start!
~ We will be displaying our modern quilts in the Quiltfest Destination Savannah show March 27-30 in Savannah, GA. CHECK YOUR EMAIL for important instructions and dates!

~ Mid-Atlantic Quilt Fest is coming!
White Glove Volunteers:

  • You will need to provide your own white gloves. (Joy has one pair left to loan.)
  • You must pay the entrance fee to enter the Show floor.
  • Check in with the Show Registration Desk 10 minutes prior to your shift. Please allow time for parking, etc.
Our Raffle Quilt, “Fiesta”, was on display at February’s meeting! Isn’t it gorgeous? Many many thanks to everyone who contributed, and to Quilter’s Dream Batting for supplying the batting. A special thanks to Lise for pulling it all together, Malinda for her quilting skills and Katie for being willing to bind it. Great job, Ladies!

~ March’s program will be Mid-Atlantic Show & Tell. We want to hear all about the workshops, classes and lectures you attended! Plus, bring your goodies and share your plans for new fabrics/supplies.

~ We will Swap modern Mug Rugs. A Mug Rug is a small quilt just the right size for your mug of something yummy and a small snack. They are also the perfect size to experiment with a new technique, use up scraps or try a new fabric. They can be hand embellished, fused, pieced, bound or turned…anything goes. Mug rugs come in many sizes – if you’re lost a good starting place is 7″ x 10″. You can visit Joy’s Pinterest board for some ideas. Have fun!
