October Meeting Highlights

This month, Members made Noodleheads’s divided basket, led by Virginia Beach MQG’s Mary Menzer. We even had a visitor all the way from the Bay Area MQG in SanFrancisco!

Mary shows off her latest divided basket.
We love visitors! Welcome to Rhonda & Jenny.

Great job, everyone!

So far Members have made 74 bibs for the senior center!

All those blocks make for a fun BOM pumpkin patch.

Business:
~ Valerie is collecting Charm Squares (5″ square) for use in our charity quilts. Please bring your charm squares or fabric to be cut up to meetings.
~ Our big This is My Modern Quilt Guild Challenge is underway! We have a spot to showcase our challenge quilts at Mid-Atlantic in February, so let’s rise to the challenge and show ’em what we’ve got! There is no size limit on finished challenge quilts, so every member is encouraged to participate.
~ In 2015 our meetings will be moving to the first Saturday of the month. See the Meetings tab above for dates and program info.

Show & Tell:

Heide is hiding behind her mermaid quilt…
Iris’ ultra modern rings.
Even our guests brought Show & Tell

Tamika’s adorable finish!
Beth’s got a new bag.

Gala’s tailgate quilt has a pocket!

Sandra has been busy with this beauty….

… and this one!

NEXT MONTH:
~ At November’s meeting we will be swapping ornaments! They don’t have to be quilted, but they DO need to be handmade by you. 🙂  There are no sign-ups. If you’d like to participate, just bring an ornament!

~ Immediate following November’s meeting (12:00 – 4:00 PM) is a Charity Sew Day. We’ll be making hats for the homeless from fleece. Want to get a head start? Download the pattern HERE. The tutorial is HERE.
Please bring:
   – Bag lunch

   – Sewing machine and supplies
   – Fleece, pre-cut according to pattern directions

~  Please bring any additional Bibs for the senior center. We want every resident to have one, and we are currently half way there! ~ Bring your items for December’s Chinese Auction.
~ November’s Block of the Month is “Simply Woven” by Moda Bake Shop. Use a low volume gray for the background and brights for your strips. Don’t forget – anyone can be a block angel by making an extra block or more for charity quilts!
~ DON’T FORGET to bring a little somethin’ for your secret pal!

DON’T FORGET to bring your charity charm squares.
