This month designer, Alison Glass, came to visit the PMQG! Not only did she share her experiences as a designer, she also brought her pop-up shop and sample quilts. Members had the opportunity to view and purchase her fabrics, patterns, book and more.

NEXT MONTH:

~ We’ll be playing Strip Poker: Bring (20) 2 ½” strips (solids or white with one other color) to play. IF you don’t have standard yardage, 2 cuts from a fat quarter = 1 WOF strip

~ Placemat swap! Make TWO matchin placemats to participate. We will play the Yankee (White Elephant) Swap so make sure your goods are wrapped!

~ Challenge Quilt: The center block (star) of your medallion quilt is ‘due’. First row challenge will be assigned in March and due in April.
~ April’s Block of the Month is the Square Knot Block. Don’t forget to make extras of this fun block for our charity quilts.

Happy 2015! January: Quilting Beginnings

Happy New Year!
We kicked the new year off looking at quilts past and present. Several members brought one of their first quilts and a recent project and the rest of us had to guess whose was whose.

Happy 2015! January: Quilting Beginnings

Happy New Year!

~ Our sweet friend Alison Glass will be joining us to talk about fabric design and show off some of her new goodies. She’s also bringing her pop-up shop, so save your pennies. You don’t want to miss it!
~ Iris & Gwen will present our 2015 Quilt Challenge. You can take a peek HERE to get started choosing your fabric.
~ There is a Sew-In immediately following February’s meeting to get started on our Challenge quilts or work on current projects. Bring a bag lunch, sewing supplies and power strips. 
~ 2014 Quilt Challenge participants: Quilts are DUE at February’s meeting! Quilts MUST have a 4″ sleeve and a label that includes your name and phone number.  If you will not be attending February’s meeting, please make arrangements to get your quilt to Iris. 

~ February’s Block of the Month is the Scrappy Triangle block. Don’t forget to make extras of this fun block for our charity quilts.

December 2014 Highlights

This month the PMQG wrapped up a successful year with a party! Members shared their favorite holiday dishes and bid on some great gifts in our Chinese Auction.

Members also revealed their creative “This is My Modern Quilt” Challenge quilts.  The challenge was to use only one print and unlimited solids to modernize an old favorite or create a new design. These quilts and more will be on display at the Mid-Atlantic Quilt Festival in February. Great job, everyone!

October Meeting Highlights

This month, Members made Noodleheads’s divided basket, led by Virginia Beach MQG’s Mary Menzer. We even had a visitor all the way from the Bay Area MQG in SanFrancisco!

~ Our big This is My Modern Quilt Guild Challenge is underway! We have a spot to showcase our challenge quilts at Mid-Atlantic in February, so let’s rise to the challenge and show ’em what we’ve got! There is no size limit on finished challenge quilts, so every member is encouraged to participate.
